Easy to forgive, hard to forget

Am I too much of a forgiving person? I always let shit slide, hoping to forgive and forget because I believe there’s no reason to waste any time being angry and resentful towards someone when you could be enjoying all the good things in life with them. And some times I just wonder if my easy forgiveness gives them the advantage of taking me for granted, you know? I mean, I have even forgiven people who have done some really fucked up shit to me. No lie. I guess I just really don’t believe in prolonging the hatred and anger, or holding grudges, even after someone’s fucked me over. I mean yeah I’ll forgive you if you really mean it when you say you’re sorry, but I’ll probably never forget the shit you did.

I won’t ask you to prove anything right on the spot. A genuine, sincere, eye to eye apology will do. Just mean it. That’s all I ask for.
